NWS Forecaster Discussion
763 fxus64 kshv 180249 aaa afdshv Area forecast discussion...updated National Weather Service Shreveport la 949 PM CDT Wednesday Mar 17 2010 Discussion... have made a few changes to the forecast this evening. Water vapor imagery shows a shortwave dipping southeast through the four state region this evening. Radar imagery as a result has been showing light returns over the eastern couple of parishes. Overall am not expecting much of this to reach the ground. Have updated pop and weather grids to reduce the slight chance area to the southeastern corner of the County warning forecast area. Have also just mentioned sprinkles as it will be rather hard for much rain...if any...to reach the ground given rather dry conditions. The small chances for sprinkles should end by midnight. Have made a few adjustments to temperatures as well. Temperatures especially over the northwestern corner of the four state region have been cooling a bit more quickly than expected. Have adjusted low temperatures down over this area as a result. Hourly temperatures have been adjusted accordingly based on these changes. Otherwise the forecast is in decent shape and any other changes were minor and based on observational trends. Updated products will be sent and posted to the web shortly. /22/ && Aviation... VFR conditions are expected to prevail throughout most of the forecast period. Scattered to broken middle deck across la/Arkansas terminals will give way to mostly clear skies after 18/06z...as upper disturbance finally pushes off of the Gulf Coast. With a dry airmass over the region...any br formation tonight and early Thursday will be limited to low lying areas...and should be shallow. Some high cumulus may develop as daytime heating commences Thursday. However...clouds should remain confined to la/Arkansas terminals...as high pressure maintains its hold over most of Texas. Winds will remain out of the northwest at 4-8 kts through the period. /12/ && Preliminary point temps/pops... shv 42 66 48 75 55 / 10 0 0 0 10 mlu 43 65 49 75 54 / 20 0 0 0 10 deq 38 65 44 74 50 / 10 0 0 0 20 txk 40 64 46 74 52 / 10 0 0 0 20 eld 40 64 47 74 52 / 10 0 0 0 10 tyr 41 65 45 75 52 / 10 0 0 0 10 ggg 40 65 46 76 54 / 10 0 0 0 10 lfk 40 67 47 74 55 / 10 0 0 0 10 && Shv watches/warnings/advisories...
