Area forecast discussion for western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming
National Weather Service Rapid City South Dakota
250 am MST Sat Nov 22 2008

Discussion...09z surface analysis shows low pressure centered over
eastern South Dakota...moving slowly east. Drier air moving in from
the west has cleared the stratus out of northeastern Wyoming and far
western South Dakota. Expect to see clearing over our eastern by
midday. Weak upper level ridge building into the area will bring
warmer temperatures...with highs reaching the middle 40s to lower 50s
over northeastern Wyoming and southwestern South Dakota.
Temperatures will be cooler in the snow covered areas of
northwestern and north central South Dakota with highs in those
areas expected to reach the middle to upper 30s. A weak shortwave will
cross the northern plains on Sunday...bringing slightly cooler
temperatures and a slight chance of snow showers to portions of
northeastern Wyoming...the Black Hills and southwestern South Dakota.

Extended...an upper level ridge will build over the area for Monday
and into the middle of the upcoming work week. This will bring dry
conditions along with above average temperatures.

&&

Aviation...areas of snow will continue to push east across the area
this afternoon into the evening. IFR/MVFR conditions will increase
to VFR conditions tonight as the precipitation departs the area. VFR
conditions will continue through Saturday.

&&

Unr watches/warnings/advisories...
South Dakota...none.
Wyoming...none.
