NWS Forecaster Discussion
727 fxus62 ktae 220116 afdtae Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida 915 PM EDT sun Mar 21 2010 Discussion...rain came to an end as a cold front moved east across our area this afternoon. In its wake...skies cleared and temperatures warmed into the into the middle to upper 60s. However...it felt cooler because of the windy conditions. Current satellite imagery revels that skies continue to be mostly clear across the eastern zones but mostly cloudy conditions have returned to the Florida Panhandle and southeast Alabama as a massive upper low centered over central Mississippi slowly spins eastward. These clouds will overspread the eastern zones in the next several hours and will most likely remain with US through most of Monday. Upstream radars show patchy very light rain or drizzle so I left a slight pop in for tonight. Winds are diminishing but are still quite breezy for this time of evening. Despite the winds and cloud cover...min temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 30s northwest zones and lower to middle 40s for most of the remainder of the forecast area. && Marine...solid advisory conditions across the waters. Winds this evening are sustained around 20 knots and seas at the buoys are 10 to 11 feet. Tide levels up to a foot above normal are expected across portions of the Florida Panhandle and Apalachee Bay coasts. This is typically not high enough to cause significant problems. && Aviation...MVFR 2500 foot cloud deck to return overnight over kdhn...kaby and kvld. VFR 4-5 kft deck expected nearer the coast at kpfn and ktlh. Very light drizzle is possible tomorrow morning...but nothing significant. Windy conditions will continue over night and through tomorrow afternoon. && Tae watches/warnings/advisories... Alabama...none. Georgia...none. Florida...high surf advisory until 7 am CDT Tuesday for the following zones: Bay...coastal Walton...Gulf. GM...Small Craft Advisory until 2 PM EDT Tuesday for all zones. && $$ Barry/Lanier
