NWS Forecaster Discussion
366 fxus62 ktae 141237 afdtae Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida 845 am EDT sun Mar 14 2010 Discussion...a rather large band of low but thick MVFR level clouds is rotating through the County Warning Area this morning...with ceiling bases generally between 5 and 6 kft. Although the mostly cloudy skies are clearing rapidly behind this band...this morning's tae sounding is showing a freezing level even colder than yesterday (at just below 5700 ft!!). This will likely give US a nearly replicated day today as we had on Saturday...with a rapidly developing fair weather cumulus field once the warming of the middle March sun gets an opportunity to go to work. Over the coastal waters... despite the very brief and unexpected plummeting of the local winds...expect them to ramp up very quickly back up to Small Craft Advisory levels withing the next few hours so will not make any major changes unless some new evidence comes along that would seriously hamper this train of thought. (It also needs to be noticed that seas are still at Small Craft Advisory levels and probably will not have the time to drop below.) Also...our projected high temperatures look good once again... with middle 60s across the north and upper 60s to around 70 to the south. && Aviation...sct-bkn ceilings from 5-7 kft will persist through the day. Winds will pick up again by middle to late morning...with sustained west to northwest winds of 10 to 15 kts gusting up to 25 kts. && Tae watches/warnings/advisories... Alabama...none. Georgia...none. Florida...high surf advisory through 00z Monday for the west facing beaches of Bay and Gulf counties. Red flag warning 18-23z today for the following zones: Calhoun...Gadsden...Holmes...inland Walton...Jackson... Jefferson...Leon...Liberty...Madison...Washington. GM...Small Craft Advisory until 03z Monday nearshore zones. Small Craft Advisory until 09z Monday offshore zones. && $$ Gould/Gibbs
