Discussion...an upper trough moved through the Pacific northwest 
this afternoon with an associated cold frontal boundary extending 
toward central California. While the cold front remained very weak 
and began dissipating before reaching the district...temperature 
did take a down turn today. Precipitation remained confined to areas 
north of California...while only higher clouds moved into the 
region today. The main concern this evening will be how cool 
conditions will get as many locations were running some 5 degree-f 
below that of Wednesday evening. With the current trend...could 
see the valley drop into the 40s overnight with 30s over the 
higher terrain. Should only expect moderate cooling due to some 
mixing under light to moderate winds. Currently...the surface 
pressure gradient from sfo to las was at about 7mb...but trending 
down. Therefore...some winds may exist overnight...but should be 
light by Friday morning. These winds will allow overnight 
temperatures to not drop below the 40s. By Friday...a short wave 
ridge will shift through the region...but provide little influence 
over the district. With this...will see further cooling on Friday 
as afternoon temperatures will only reach into the middle to upper 60s. 
Latest forecast on track with current thinking...so no updates 
needed.

Aviation...areas of MVFR in haze and mist in the San Joaquin 
Valley...with local IFR until 17z Friday. Otherwise VFR 
conditions will prevail over the central California interior 
through 06z Saturday.

Air quality issues...on Friday November 21 2008... 
unhealthy for sensitive groups in Kern and Tulare counties. 
Fireplace/wood stove burning is prohibited in Kern...Kings and
