538 fxus65 ktwc 210926 afdtwc Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tucson Arizona 225 am MST sun Mar 21 2010 Synopsis...high pressure aloft will bring dry and warm conditions through Monday. A low pressure system may bring a few showers to the area late Tuesday into Wednesday along with cooler daytime temperatures. Dry conditions to occur Thursday and Friday as high pressure aloft returns. && Discussion...upper level ridge axis this morning extended from northern Baja California into Montana. Some thin high clouds will pass through the ridge today otherwise it will be sunny with much warmer daytime temperatures. Warmer yet on Monday even as upper level ridge flattens over the area. Will also see more high clouds pass through the ridge. The flattening of the ridge is in response to a system moving through the Pacific northwest. Additionally there is a southern stream Pacific system that will be moving toward northern Baja California late Monday. These two systems will phase together on Tuesday and bring a slight chance to chance of showers to the area Tuesday afternoon into early Wednesday. Snow levels will lower to about 6500 feet Tuesday night with minor accumulations above 7000 feet. Cooler temperatures with highs 8-10 degrees cooler than Monday. System moves east of the area on Wednesday afternoon with showers ending from west to east. Dry with a warming trends Thursday into Saturday. && Aviation...few to scattered cirrus clouds over the next 24 hours. Surface winds Ely/southeasterly 5-15 kts this morning. Aviation discussion not updated for taf amendments. && Fire weather...high pressure aloft will bring dry conditions with warmer daytime temperatures today into Monday. No wind concerns are expected both days. A low pressure system will then bring a chance of showers late Tuesday into Wednesday.
